Presented by the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist
The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist are pleased to announce that Robert and Monica Mylod have been selected as this year’s Medal of St. Dominic honorees. The Mylods have been friends of the Dominican Sisters of Mary since the earliest days of the community’s founding and have supported the Sisters in countless ways. The Mylods have recently accepted the title of Advocate of the Dominican Sisters of Mary, for their ongoing efforts to help advance the mission of the community.
In a recent article in Christendom College’s Instraurare Magazine, Mr. Mylod states, “We are very committed to nurturing educational experiences that will draw people closer to the Lord…” Mr. and Mrs. Mylod live out this statement by championing Catholic education at all academic levels. Mr. Mylod serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Christendom College. He is a former member of the Board of Trustees of Franciscan University of Steubenville and will be honored with an honorary degree by the university in May of 2010. The Mylods’ commitment to the mission of the Catholic Church extends beyond the borders of education. They are active in Legatus, a Catholic organization for business executives. They have served as Eucharistic Ministers at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and as Lectors and Sacristans at their parish church. Mr. Mylod is an Advisory Board member of Christus Medicus Foundation which seeks to reclaim Christ-centered health care. He is Co-Chairman of the National Advisory Board of the Cardinal Newman Society. He is also a minority owner in The Timothy Plan, a partnership which operates a group of mutual funds dedicated to investing in morally committed public companies.
Robert Mylod is former Chairman and CEO of Michigan National Corporation. He stepped down after nearly 11 years when the bank was acquired by the National Australia Bank in November 1995.
