The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist are pleased to honor Nick and Jennifer Thomm as as the
2019 Medal of St. Dominic Recipients.
Nicholas and Jennifer Thomm have been faithful supporters of The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist and the Spiritus Sanctus Academies since moving to the area upon graduation from Franciscan University. Nick first began his career in communications with Credo newspaper and quickly transitioned to Ave Maria Radio, where he has been the Executive Producer and News Director of Kresta in the Afternoon for the past 17 years. He is the originator and well-known voice of the Fascinating Fact. Jen began teaching at our schools in 2003, first at the former Golfside location and then at our Ann Arbor location. She is currently teaching our 4-year-old program at the Ann Arbor school and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd to our K-3rd grade students, with an additional class for 3-year-olds. She brings a great deal of enthusiasm and experience spanning 18 years across multiple subject levels and nearly all grade levels through high school.
Nick and Jen are well known for openly sharing their journey of battling Nick’s brain tumor, infertility, and navigating two independent adoptions. Nick’s voice has been notably absent on the radio for many months as he works to combat adverse effects of treatment. Nick and Jen remain active in our schools, community and their parish despite the heavy cross they have been entrusted with. On any given day you can find them on the sidelines (coaching & cheering), at Boy Scout functions, coaching Science Olympiad teams, Daddy Daughter dances & even decorating for this gala. They are committed to using their experience to bring others hope and to testify to the power, mercy and faithfulness of God. We are grateful to walk this journey with them and thankful for their passionate examples of living as joyful disciples of Christ.
